Our Board is made up of incredible individuals who have decided to spend their time working to help others. At their core, each person has a drive to help support those around them. They spend untold hours making sure that the recipients and Volunteers at LAD feel they are heard and that their actions matter. Our Board believes strongly in our mission of spreading hope and support to those who need it the most. They strive to build an inclusive environment where people from all backgrounds and experiences can share their stories, learn from one another, and most of all, help everyone remember “You are NOT alone.”

Who is Letters Against Depression?

Robert Mason, Founder and CEO

I founded this organization back in 2014 after my own experiences with depression, anxiety and other mental illnesses. I had such an overwhelming want during my lowest points to just know that I was not alone in this and that my existence truly mattered. As I started breaking through on my healing journey, I needed to find a way to reach out to those battling mental illness as well to let them know that they matter, and that they are not alone. When I am not working my job at Walt Disney World as a Senior Financial Systems Analyst, you can find me in my office at home working on furthering the mission of Letters Against Depression. There is just something magical and healing that comes from a personal, hand-written letter.

Jen is a former Walt Disney World Ambassador that is passionate about helping others any chance that she can. When she isn't volunteering with Letters Against Depression, you will find her volunteering with Give Kids the World, a Gift for Teaching, or countless other Central Florida organizations. You'll find Jen at the forefront of in-person LAD events, as she thrives on socializing in those situations.

Jen Mason

Hi, I'm Deb LeBlanc, and I design and maintain our Celebrations program, sending the official LAD Birthday Cards out to our recipients. I am also the founder of the LAD "Hug", our handmade crocheted heart. I'm a 60+ year old mom of 4 great boys and grandma of 7! I got involved with LAD because someone I love and am proud of has depression. Robert Mason isn't just our amazing founder and CEO, he's also my son. It's been unbelievable watching LAD grow in leaps and bounds. I am humbled by the response to this simple idea.

Kim spends most of her time in her head day dreaming about all the small things that can make a big difference. She is happiest when working on LAD Volunteer engagement activities, working with the interns, and laying the foundation for big ideas for down the road. The best perk is hearing from volunteers and supporting them with their ideas. Really, email her anytime.

Megan has been writing letters for LAD since the beginning - she remembers when there wasn’t even a volunteer portal! Now, in addition to volunteering as a letter writer, she supports LAD’s growth by working behind the scenes, helping to fill gaps when the Board needs her. She has compiled many a packet for LAD, helps with the monthly newsletter (most months!) and usually test drives any links before they go active. She also helps to find and write grants. In her personal life, Megan is a photography enthusiast who loves to travel - as long as her cat can come along!
